Our next installment of our introducing bloggers piece focuses on someone who is fairly new onto the scene, but he as you will read below, he started his love for the franchise in the Championship Manager phase and that is awesome…
Say hello to the Tracksuit Manager
Creator name:
Tracksuit Manager – I chose this as it’s what I essentially like to be in my saves, I dress my manager in the colours of the team I’m managing and ensure I have fairly high attributes on the coaching side, particularly tactical and working with youngsters.
I also like to be involved in the training side of the game and developing players. I really enjoying picking up newgens and making them into superstars, these are the Football Manager memories that stay with you over the years.
Real name:
Adam Robertson – If I got to chose my real name it probably would have been Alistair or Ally after Rangers legend Ally McCoist – we share the same birthday!
Football team:
I support Glasgow Rangers. I was born in England, but the whole of my family are Scottish, I am too deep down!
My most memorable Rangers game would be the 2002 Scottish Cup Final, a 3-2 win over Celtic at Hampden. I remember watching the game with my Grandad and hitting the roof when Peter Lovenkrands headed in Neil McCann’s cross in the 90th minute, scenes!!
FM Journey:
I’ve played since CM01/02, but I think the addiction came around FM09. I remember being so hooked on that game until my laptop literally exploded on me. One of my saves was with Dumbarton in the lower leagues of Scotland and I managed to get Martyn Waghorn on loan from Sunderland, I got him to sign permanently and then the rest is history! I guess I first played the game at a mates house, we did two player save where he managed Real Madrid and I was Barcelona. The moment I realised that I couldn’t stop was probably when I started having days of from college just to play it.
Becoming a creator:
I’ve tried to do something every year but never stayed motivated to it. I think this feels differently, I’m really hooked on the beta at the moment and really enjoying writing my current series ‘Midlothian Magic’. I think what is different is that I’m already a season in on the save, which ultimately makes it easier to write as I know what happens next. I like being a creator, there are so many positive creators on Twitter that support you work whether that be feedback or even something as simple as a like, it really is a fantastic community.
Style of play:
At the moment I am pretty much into hiring a Director of Football and getting them to do most things, the only exception is that I like to chose my Assistant Manager, I usually try and link them with the club I’m currently managing i.e. ex-player. I tend to get bored quite easily so find long term play a real issue. I really like what they have done this year with the addition of objectives, club vision etc. which I think makes me want to go well into a save. With my current series I’m really invested in a few players and if I can hold on to them I think I will play the save for a while.
Favourite version/save:
Funnily enough my favourite version is probably FM13. I rarely play as Rangers as they are the team I support and it really frustrates me, however Rangers were in the Scottish Third Division and I saw this an opportunity to build and have a long term save. I remember the save really well and the second season I got a Portuguese newgen called Luiz Azevedo who was phenomenal! He scored for fun and took the club right into the Champions League, alongside him we had the likes of Lewis Robb, Peter Manning, David Brown and Jose Jose all newgens who stayed with us for years. The save lasted around 16 season where I regained the league and went on to 10 in a row, got to the final of the Europa League losing to Arsenal, the furthest I got in the Champions League was the Quarter Finals where I lost to Barcelona, I miss that save!
Bloggers that I read:
I used to follow Cleon when he was doing his blogs, his content was always superb. I always look for blogs by FMSamo, According to FM and InvertedWingbacks, I really enjoy the way they write their blogs, they are great creators. I’m also currently enjoying blogs by scootR, Lutterworth Fox and MikaelinhoFM, some superb content to be found there!
Impressive within the community:
I would have to say Laura (Chilled Moose) as well, the stuff she does is just next level, super talented individual.
I would also say Loki Doki really impresses me, his videos are just brilliant, particular his journeyman saves. I love his sketches, his jokes and the way he communicates with his audience. Easily one of the best content creators in the community.
In terms of bloggers, I would say all of the guys nominated above. I really like this concept that we are doing now with the FM Library, it adds something different to the usual FM blogs.
I’d also add FM Base as a site that really impresses me. The new look to their site is awesome and I really like what they are doing currently on social media, good quality content.
What puts me off:
Bad grammar is probably the main thing that puts me off, however I wouldn’t click off the blog if the story/plot behind it was good. I like content that pulls me in and keeps me there, content that has a lot of effort behind it.
Something else that puts me off is not having graphics, I know not everyone can produce graphics or may not like them but I’m a visual person and I like to put a face to a name or make something stand out more. I think having graphics makes blogs look a little more appealing to readers.
Why click on my blog:
I’m a passionate writer who puts a lot of effort into my content. The aim of my blog is to get readers invested in my stories, I want the readers to feel part of the story and follow the whole journey.
I currently have 42 chapters planned for my current story ‘Midlothian Magic’, I have a spreadsheet with all the titles already thought out – if this doesn’t tell the about the sort of person I am I don’t know what will. All that matters to me is that you enjoy our stories. I am massive on feedback, if you don’t like something or think I could do something better please let me know.
We thank Adam for his time to answer his questions, and absolutely love the fact he has 42 chapters of the blog already planned – just hope he doesnt get sacked!!
