Another newcomer to take on our 11 questions “grilling” – this guy loves a certain type of food and that is the basis for his name.
Say hello to RasherFM
- Creator Name & what made you choose it: FMRasher – I have a massive love for Bacon!
- Real Name: Gary
- Football Team: Manchester United
- Talk me through your FM journey – where does it start? When was the moment that you first clicked on that little icon – and when did you realise that you couldn’t stop! – I started playing Football Manager (well Championship Manager) in 1997 and I’ve been hooked ever since. I’ve had every copy of Champ Man/FM since – without fail – EVERY year. I remember buying Ibrahima Bakayoko and he was GOD. Bought him for Man Utd and he scored goals for fun.
- Ok, you’ve been playing the game, what made you jump from “player” to “creator” and how have you found the journey? – I realised that because I enjoy reading/watching other FM content, that there maybe a chance that someone might enjoy mine. I’ve been playing the game for 23 years now. And I’ve read a lot of content in that time. So I thought, why not me?
- What’s your style of play? Within the library we have a couple of guys who plough through seasons letting the Assistant Manager’s do the vast majority of stuff, mainly getting into the late 2060’s trying to complete bizarre and random challenges, but we also have guys who are very much into the finite detail and will manage every aspect and would consider a save done after 5 or 6 seasons. Where do you fit within the scale? There is of course, no incorrect answer.. – I play the game quickly – as you may or may not have noticed. I tend to control all transfers/team talks/scouting. But I let my assistant take care of the training & opposition instructions (as long as I deem him qualified to do so). In terms of style of play, I don’t pigeon whole myself into playing one type of football. It’s all dependant on the players at my disposal. I’m happy to play quick, and press high, but also willing to play with a more structured and robust formation. I tend to make the best from what I have, as opposed to what I want.
- Favourite version/save? Any particular bittersweet/comic/down right depressing memories? – for me, I loved 01/02. Was just incredible. Everything about it. I could smash out seasons like no mans business. Loved being Roma on that game. Such an amazing squad. Any team with Batistuta in gets my vote! If memory serves me right, I think I won 8 straight Serie A titles and about 5 Champions League’s with those guys! Fond memories!
- Which bloggers do you always make sure that you read? – I like to read @FMstag’s stuff. There is a good tone of humour throughout his blogs. Also @FMGrasshopper does some great stuff. But they are just a few. I like loads of peoples. It’s good to read other people’s blogs. Some people are really good! Lutterworth Fox/Madd FM/The Wide Playmaker/Zona Mista/The Last Throw….just a few to name there!
- Who within the community, seriously impresses you – produces the type of content that you just think “Wow, I couldn’t even contemplate producing stuff to at that level – for me it’s Laura/Chilled Moose and the face packs that she produces – some serious design talent there. This can be across any format of creation – I love the stuff @FmCatenaccio has been doing with his Arendal save. The whole thing has been great to follow. The kits/stadium designs have been amazing. Would love that sort of content on my blog page. Also love the kits Request a Kit do too
- What puts you off reading other creators blogs – what makes you click that “X” button in the top right of the page. For me it’s using the correct grammar for team names – I saw a blog about 18 months ago where the blogger named his opponent as oxford united and not Oxford United – I’m still angry about this… – I try and give blogs every chance before switching off. A bit more forgiving than you perhaps! Haha.. So if a post is ‘off’ then I’ll try again to see if it has improved. I tend to read blogs where I can see the details quick. I’m impatient and like to see the results at a glance.
- Ok, final question.. I have 5 minutes and I have a list of blogs in front of me – In 100 words, why should I click on your blog…You should give mine a go because not only will you get a blog post, but you’ll more than likely get the story too. I play fast and that means I blog fast too. So you’ll never have to wait too long for the next one. It’s a flurry of FM’ness and fired from the hip!
We thank Gary for his time, and look forward to his next blog.
