Welcome back to another 11 Questions, this time we welcome Scott aka DP-FM, a lad I’ve followed for a while now and absolutely love his blogs, hope you enjoy!

Creator Name & what made you choose it:

DP-FM – When we started out, myself and life long friend Louis decided to collaborate and blog together so the ‘DP’ is our last name initials and FM is well, self-explanatory.

Real Name:

Scott

Football Team:

Dundee United & Manchester United

Talk me through your FM journey – where does it start? When was the moment that you first clicked on that little icon – and when did you realise that you couldn’t stop!

I actually bought FM 2006 as a teenager with a bit of spare money and I discovered the game whilst walking around GAME. I took it home and then couldn’t stop playing it! I was engrossed by it all, the little dots on the screen became my life.

Ok, you’ve been playing the game, what made you jump from “player” to “creator” and how have you found the journey?

So I didn’t buy FM20 as I thought as I was ‘done’ but then I missed the game and bought FM21. I fell in love with a Bolton save (Blogged as Bolton Back to Europa) and I thought to myself I have to get this out there somehow. I searched the relevant hashtag on twitter and discovered the community. Once Louis was involved, we made our site and got amongst it! The community is a great place and I’ve met some great people during the past year.

What’s your style of play? Within the library we have a couple of guys who plough through seasons letting the Assistant Manager’s do the vast majority of stuff, mainly getting into the late 2060’s trying to complete bizarre and random challenges, but we also have guys who are very much into the finite detail and will manage every aspect and would consider a save done after 5 or 6 seasons. Where do you fit within the scale? There is of course, no incorrect answer..

I like to be in control, I do my own training schedules on a monthly basis depending on opposition, I do my set pieces, press conferences and so on. The only thing the assistant will do is take charge of friendlies. Although I’ve become more open to the DoF and Head of Youth Development getting involved with the U23s & U19s.

In terms of save longevity, I base my saves on self-made challenges so I probably play around 8-10 seasons on a save or until I feel its run its course.

Favourite version/save? Any particular bittersweet/comic/down right depressing memories?

Favourite version was FM 2008. I had two of my best saves on there with Swansea City and an unemployed save. In relation to the Swansea save, a bittersweet moment is when I decided to leave after missing out on Premier League promotion for a third time – we achieved a lot but when I jetted off to Zaragoza for my next job, it just wasn’t the same.

Which bloggers do you always make sure that you read?

FMCheapSeats – love the narratives and the madness; SadPanda333 – great blogger in my opinion; ThrowingCopperFM – The Girona blog and detail is next level.

Who within the community, seriously impresses you – produces the type of content that you just think “Wow, I couldn’t even contemplate producing stuff to at that level – for me it’s Laura/Chilled Moose and the face packs that she produces – some serious design talent there. This can be across any format of creation.

For me a bit of an unsung hero is Wightyyyy, the guy makes unbelievable kits and configs for them, he made a host of kits for me during FM21 and they were all outstanding. The guy has serious talent within the FM kit making world.

What puts you off reading other creators blogs – what makes you click that “X” button in the top right of the page. For me it’s using the correct grammar for team names – I saw a blog about 18 months ago where the blogger named his opponent as oxford united and not Oxford United – I’m still angry about this…

Grammar is definitely one as probably for most of us but also too much writing in between screenshots can cause my interest to go sometimes, in my view screenshots give complexity to each part of a write up.

Ok, final question.. I have 5 minutes and I have a list of blogs in front of me – In 100 words, why should I click on your blog…

The constant drive I have on my saves to achieve my club goals season on season is what I hope keeps readers coming back, I don’t like failing targets but will always strive to make my club up there with the best in the league…I build up clubs and avoid taking easy jobs as such!

A part of my play as well is getting youth to first team level and allowing them to flourish in competitive games because you can win things with kids contrary to Alan Hansen’s views.

Thanks so much to Scott for answering these for us, it’s been great to read more about the great man. Make sure you drop him a follow on Twitter and go check out his blog.
